Day 2 Wednesday April 28 2021 - Sanford to Clermont

Todays ride will be 42.7 miles. The complete route can be found here. We leave Sanford and work our way west just north of Winter Springs, Altamont Springs and Maitland. We start the day on the Rinehart Road Trail. At mile 3, we head due west on the Cross Seminole Trail for less than a mile. At mile 3.7 we intersect with the Seminole Wekiva Trail. We will follow the Seminole Wekiva Trail until mile 16.8 (for 13 miles). For the next 6 miles we will be on busy City Streets. At mile 22, we pick up the West Orange Trail. At mile 35.3, the West Orange Trail changes to the South Lake Trail. Portions of the 13-mile South Lake Trail, centered near Clermont, FL, are particularly scenic, with views along Lake Minneola and other lakes and sweeping vistas on the sand ridges. We leave the South Lake Trail at Mile 40 and enter busy City Streets until we arrive at our destination for the day at mile 42.7 in Clermont Florida. Clermont is the largest city in Lake County and is located in South Lake County which is comprised of Clermont, Groveland, Mascotte, Minneola and Montverde. Clermont is home to the National Training Center for professional athletes, sports teams and Olympians. Clermont has over 100 miles of nature trails and fifteen golf courses. Clermont is the #1 location in the world for triathlons and is home to the #1 triathlete in the world. The appearance of the historic downtown district has not changed much since 1962.
